Hello and welcome to another episode of Tarot Tuesday. My name is Kara, and I am your guide and friend through this reading. I use my knowledge of the tarot, intuitive insights, and symbolism drawn from the cards to bring forth messages that will help us, the collective, on our path.
This is a general reading. Please take what resonates and leave what doesn’t.
Today, 12/21, marks the winter solstice. Our first day of winter and the start of a new cycle. Not only is our dear Mother Earth going through this change but it also occurs within us as all. We are still very much in the energy of the full moon we had a couple days ago. Experiencing the closing of cycles that no longer serve us to prepare us for what’s ahead.
As we move into this new cycle and season of life I asked what we need to know at this time. How can we best move through this change? And how can we honor our bodies at this time?
The cards pulled were the 8 of Swords (Reversed), the 8 of Wands, the 2 of Swords, and 2 of Cups. I immediately noticed the numerology coming through in this reading.
In the tarot, the number 8 is associated with the Strength card of the Major Arcana and with the sign Capricorn. We are currently moving out of the sign of Sagittarius and into Capricorn, an earth sign associated with traits of being hard-working, ambitious, and goal oriented. The number 8 tells us to step into our personal power and have faith and trust in our own abilities, skills and talents, and to use them to our highest potential.
With the 8 of Swords (Reversed), It’s a clear message that we are putting an end to the hurt we hold within. This can be from our own self-inflictions or allowing ourselves to be manipulated and controlled by others. The struggle is over and we are able to overcome any obstacles that are holding us back. Like the full moon we just had, we are closing out all the cycles which no longer serve us and move into the 8 of Wands energy. A period of stagnation is over and we are able to move forward laying a firm foundation for what we desire. We are moving forward towards achieving our goals.
We started the reading with two 8’s and are ending with two 2’s. The number 2 symbolizes duality, reflection, and is also associated with relationships, those with ourselves and others.
With the 2 of Swords, I’m getting a mirror image and you can see just that in this card. What this is telling us is that we must go within and decide what type of energy we are putting into ourselves as well as the energy we are putting out. If we are struggling in any way, if we are not feeling supported by those around us, we must look within. What are the thoughts we are thinking? How are we treating ourselves and others? We get back what we put out. If we continue down the path of destruction, we will continue to receive that type of energy.
On the other hand, if we put an end to our destructive tendencies and move into an energy of loving support, we transform the world around us. This includes how we feel, act, and what type of energies we attract. The 2 of Cups symbolizes a happy union, a happy atmosphere, and commitment. It suggests the continuance of a happy relationship. A resolution of problems is possible. When we learn to fill our own cup, we begin to attract those who can fill up their own cup as well. We step into our power and connect with other powerful souls.
We know what we need to do in order to move forward. We know the potential within us and are beginning to see that it is okay to allow ourselves to shine. It’s okay to go after what we want and most importantly, it’s okay to put an end to what is holding us back.
For this reading, I also sought guidance from the Tamed Wild Crystal Deck as well the Sacred Traveler Oracle Deck.
A crystal that would be beneficial to the collective at the time is Red Garnet. A stone of commitment, Red Garnet represents love. It revitalizes feelings and enhances sexuality, bringing warmth, devotion, understanding, trust, sincerity and honesty to a relationship. Red Garnet controls anger, especially toward the self. In the middle ages, Garnet was used to keep demons and phantoms at bay. Associated with the root chakra, it is a wonderful stone to help us feel more grounded at this time.
The message we received from the Sacred Traveler is Wondrous Universe. We live in a beautiful and wondrous universe. We are beautiful beings. Now is the time to see and cherish the wonders of life wherever we go; it will transform our lives. There is a remarkable beauty within us all. Simply acknowledging it allows it to surface even more. The time we take to create beauty in our home or self will manifest in our outer world. In native traditions, “walking in beauty” means to honor all the natural cycles of life and to experience a sacred communication with the Creator in all things, including oneself.
