A new year, a new month, a new moon, and a new week! We have LOTS of NEW energies coming through. Many old cycles have been closing out and we are now stepping into the new.
Full transcript of the reading:
Hello and welcome to another episode of Tarot Tuesday. My name is Kara, and I am your guide and friend through this reading. I use my knowledge of the tarot, intuitive insights, and symbolism drawn from the cards to bring forth messages that will help us, the collective, on our path.
This is a general reading so please take what resonates and leave what doesn’t.
We step into a brand new year.
We just had a new moon which brought forth another new beginning.
The rain here in Seattle poured last night, clearing away all the snow.
Our lives are shifting and changing.
What are the current energies for January?
How can we best move through this month in alignment with our higher self?
What opportunities will present themselves to us?
Here the 2 of Wands portrays a figure who is out of alignment. Using a crutch they are unstable in their physical reality. If we remember back to last week's reading it was all about addiction. Oftentimes when we try to eliminate a vice, we simply fill the void with another. We rely on a crutch and this card is a warning for us as we move into this new year and month. We are starting brand new cycles and we must find a way to move through them with strength, standing on our two feet.
The Empress comes through as a motherly figure. Kind, compassionate, positively influencing our choices. She allows us to see where life has taken us and how important discipline will be at this time in order to move forward with success. As a feminine energy, the empress represents creative action. She advises us to forge new paths rather than mending what’s been broken. It’s time to move forward.
The 9 of Cups and the King of Cups came out together. To clarify the 9 of cups we got the 6 of Swords and Queen of Swords.
The 9 of Cups is typically a very positive card symbolizing wealth, victory, and success. In this deck I can’t help but see it as a negative. The depiction speaks of success but at what cost? You can see these two figures grabbing onto the figure in the center. With their arms up I get “enough is enough” type energy.
With the King of Cups coming out alongside, I see this as two ways of reaching success. The King of Cups is aligned in his power. He stands tall and has filled his own cup. With his strength, he is able to give back without depleting his spirit. There could be multiple opportunities offered to us this month and this message advises us to consider the repercussions of what direction we choose to take. With the 6 of Swords and Queen of Swords clarifying the 9 of Cups, I’m feeling that the 9 of Cups energy is striving for success but in unhealthy ways. For example, someone who strives for success driven by greed or someone who allows others to take advantage of their skills. The 6 of Swords is a sailing away from what no longer serves us. Leaving the past behind and moving forward to a better life. We can reach success without hurting others and set boundaries to protect ourselves. The Queen of Swords cuts through the bullshit. She’s done allowing others to feed off her energy in an unhealthy way and wants to live a different life.
Overall energy for the reading is The Tower. Forces beyond our control will propel us past what no longer serves us, moving into personal change and renewal. The tower can represent unexpected changes occurring in our lives. A shake up and crumbling of what was, allowing there to be a place to rebuild with a stronger foundation. No matter what path we take, following old habits, repeating cycles or completely changing and uprooting our lives there will be change. It’s up to you what type of change you want to bring into this new month and new year.
I asked Spirit for one last message. Anything that we need to know to conclude this reading and The High Priestess emerged. A similar energy to The Empress, She is nurturing, spiritually connected, and full of divine wisdom. Her message is to look within. Trust your own intuition. Trust your feelings. By cultivating a spiritual connection to the self you will begin to understand who you truly are and how to succeed by utilizing your own unique talents.
